The politics of the Middle East are confusing to those who live there. Most Americans have tuned out.
Last Wednesday, during a joint press conference with Fayyad, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the US will give the PA an additional $150 million in aid to supplement the $400 million in financial assistance that President Barack Obama pledged in June. This supplement comes in response to Fayyad's claim that he needs $500 million to close his budget shortfall.
The American citizen is clueless about all the money the U.S. gives to who and where. I am aware that President Karzai and his family are making millions off the American taxpayer in a war the U.S. cannot win.
The situation facing the Middle East from my view point is dire. Iran certainly wants to be the great power in that region. Eventually without military force they will acquire a nuclear weapon. Eventually that situation will lead to war.
If Iran is attacked the world will see who controls Lebanon. Lebanon or Hezbollah. The weapons recently supplied to Lebanon by Russia and the United States will end up in the hands of those who really control Lebanon.
This will lead to a wider more costly war. The world was in a similar situation in the 1930. World economies were in crisis and there was conflicts and saber rattling throughout the world.
We must learn from that time and cooler heads must prevail on all sides or the past is going to become the future very soon
